painting the rocker cover
hi iv been thinking of painting my rocker cover as it looks pretty nasty at the moment if i do it though will i have to buy a replacement rocker gasket?

Yes you will mate. I'd never use the old one again.. you'll end up with leaks :wink:

hmmm i tried to order one from euro parts but it keeps saying my card number isnt long enough.

easy and make sure you use vht paint or better still have it powdercoated

took the rocker cover off yesterday and spent about 3 hours scrubbing it with a wire brush in the end i stuck it back on thers some silver showing but i think it could do with an hour or so more scrubbing, i think ill finish it off tonight hopefully even if my hands are covered in holes from the wire brush :twisted:

dude, i took mie off and took it to the local wheel refurber.
They coated it while they had paint in the gun from some wheels! cost me ?35 for rad cowling, rocker cover, timing belt casing.
Definately the way forward! 8)

For a guide on prices this is my local coater who did my rear beam, Cheap and a good job. :wink:
Oh and the rocker cover gasket OE number is 026 198 025a (DX Engine)your local factor should have one if you can't get to GSF..

Make sure your powder coater seals the oil breather up properly. Shot lodged in these will destroy your engine!!!!

didnt get it powder coated might do at some point but looks ok for now
