Oilfilter housing, oil leak?

Post

Hi!

I'm having a oil leak on my -88 GL.
I suspect its comming from my oil filter housing.
So I got myself a new o-ring.
But while I'm already changing that, I tought about changing the gasket between the housing and the engine.
But, I'm having trouble finding the right gasket in my area.

So I wonder…
Is this a typical place for oil leak? Even after removing the bolts, I cant remove it. Its stuck. Glued on with some serious sealing paste or something.

Any experiences?
Is this a typical oil-leak spot?

you probably missed a bolt! theres another only accessible once the oil filter and cooler are removed.

There are 2 gaskets depending on the age of your car, part numbers and pics in this thread both still available from VW:

Was only 3 bolts!

The housing was stuck in the old gasket.
Better find a new gasket then :)
