No. 85-105 is normal and no need to worry.

i used to get temps of 70-90 dependant on driving conditions, got a larger oil cooler now and temps sit between 50-70 usually staying sub 60

Under 60 is way too low. I won't do a 1/4 mile run if the oil's under 80?C.

I think the oil thermostat on the oil cooler doesn't open until 110+ anyway so VW think anything up to that is OK. Unless normal running produces 120-130+ I wouldn't worry.

it only uses the larger oil cooler when it gets above 80c due to the thermostatic plate.

the old oil cooler was hidden behind slats in the chrome grill anyway and got no real air haha

im skeptical about the accuracy of the any of the guages at the ebst of times

So why are your oil temperatures now much lower, when before they were 70-90 deg C?

they are lower since fitting a new oil cooler and oil pump, the primary oil cooler has got more air due to a new grille which doesnt restrict air to the cooler.

actually reading my prior post i think i was mistaken, temperature when raise is around 75, with a hard drive then will raise to around 85 and lower back to below 80 again, i need to fit leds in the guages so i can see them at night

my gauge starts reading at about 53 then makes its way up to about 90-95 on my journey to work everyday, when I'm late for work and I drive like a nutter it goes up 105
Which seems to be ok?
