Oil sump

I have a completly standard 1.6 k/jet engine, what I would like to know is

Is it possible to replace the sump with a different one that would let me lower the ride height more and safer.

I am unsure as to wether there is a Vw out with the same shape sump but a flatter shape, has any one ever seen or heard this being done before??

early MK1 sump is shallowest one available as std, though it could be you have a replacement later sump fitted

Oil sump

As far as I can tell going back through the history the sump is standard. I spoke to the guy I bought the car from he owned it for god knows how many years he says it's never been changed. The car is an 82 with the larger rear light so I'm asuming it it doesn't have the shallow sump fitted in which case I need to get one!!

Do you know where I can get one!
Thanks for the help by the way

i think it should still have the early type sump, i believe it was fitted to the mk2 for a while as well.  the big ass sump pan looks like this:
Febi 07407 Sump Pan - OE Ref: 051103601 | AVS Car Parts

early one is shallower and a bit more pointy at the bottom if thats any help at all :D
