best way to tell is to get a oil pressure gauge and plub it in, use a T piece and use the head take off point for the low pressure buzzer as this will give the worse case and measure the lowest pressure in the system.
some one else asked this a day or so ago.. have a look a few posts down as I replied to that one too.

the other options are the pump pick up maybe blocked, so drop the sump and check, clean the gauze if needed.
pump maybe worn, a new pump is only ?36 from gsf, so worth a punt, iirc later 36mm pumps from the 16v mk3s etc fit and give better flow, so could help things along
also the engine maybe just old and tired, with the main bearing shells being a bit past their best, this can lead to low pressure,
butu the first thing to do is check the pressure then go from there.
