Oil pressure problems again HELP

I have the usual oil pressure problems light flashing and buzzer annoying the **** out of me.
Firstly I thought I needed to change the engine due to it rattling like a bag of spanners. I firstly changed the 2 oil pressure switches but after looking on previous forums about this the wires looked the wrong colour to each of the switches but the way the loom is rooted this is the only way it can be.
I then changed the oil pump as well as cleaning the pick up and also removed the rocker cover and cleaned the inlet breather and gauze filter. Now the engine runs quieter for a 20 year old motor anyway.
The light and buzzer were still on the top end is getting pressure as after removing the filler cap oil can be seen spraying in it.
But still no joy.
I then removed the speedo head and found a broken solder on the circuit board which I re-soldered but again still no joy.
I am at my whits end to what else it can be i have a vdo pressure guage to double check the oil pressure physically tomorrow but failing that i haven't got a clue.
Can replacement printed boards be bought or i could try another speedo head from a friends mk2
your help with this matter would be much appreciated

this may sound odd, but when it starts buzzing and flashing whack the top of the dash!! mine has a habbit of coming on every so often esp when it has too many revs and the pressure gets too high or it feels like protesting.

double check on the loom, as the two switches are different and do different jobs, ones low presuure and the others something esle, (i forget what, but 1.8bar spings to mind…..)

I had the same trouble, tried everything and in the end it was the actual oil pressure monitoring unit in the speedo There's not so many around at the breakers now but all the Polo's and Mk2 Golfs from '82 to about '91 had the same unit. As far as I know you can still buy new ones from VW for about ?55.

oil pressure problem solved i think!!!!

tested the new pressure switches and according to haynes manual when engine is not running the switch on side of cylinder head should be closed circuit and one on top of filter housing should be open circuit. now the two switches i got from new were both open circuit the nclosed while running which was making iol pressure light and buzzer come on.
run it for 20 miles and so far so good. doing a long run of 220 on friday so fingers crossed. if you see me on the side of the m1 you know its gone wrong!!!!!
