oil light when warm

As above, I have searched the archives but can't seem to find anything specific to this so sorry if there is a post, if someone could direct me then I would appreciate it.
When warm the oil light starts to flicker then comes on and flashes,(only when warm). also the oil buzzer starts to sound and flash over 3000 revs,(again only when warm).
I have changed the low and high oil pressure sensors but its still happening, anyone have any ideas?????
Cheers

Mine does the same, and im just about to change the sensors as you did, if that does not
work, my next step is check the oil pick up (clean it etc) failing that change the oil pump £40.
Failing that pull clocks out check back of binnacle for damage etc, cant be anything else as
far as I know.

I think thats my next step mate, the oil pickup and I have the haynes manual with the datum settings for the pump so i might do that as well. I will let you know how I get on and if you could do the same bud?

P.S I got the low oil pressure switch from VW today. I think it was about a tenner.

Hey dibs
Dropped the sump tonight to find the pick up absolutely caked in gunge, barelyletting oil through, so removed the pump complete and stripped down, BE VERY CAREFUL when taking the baffle off as the 4 clips that hold it are quite brittle, I snapped 2, luckily I have a mate locally that used to break Mk 1s and he had a spare which only had 3 clips but atleast it got me going again.
If you want to get into the ins and outs of the oil pump check then I can post up the details or pm you no probs, to cut a long story short basically I stripped it cleaned it, checked it, rebuilt it and it seems ok now I had it running and took it out for a drive, let it get really hot and it seems fine, not a murmurs.

Brilliant, I'm about to do this too and glad to hear it may work. I've had exactly the same symptoms.

Will try to throw some photos up too.

Right guys I have got the sump off and found the Oil Pump.

Have taken the pipe off with the wire gauze inside, any ideas how I get it out to give it a clean? Or is it a new one that's required??

Good effort mate,
Now you have gone this far are you going to check the backlash on the oil pump and also the gap between the cogs and closing plate?if you need the info on how to do it then just let me know, it is in the brown haynes manual.

I've got a copy of the brown book, I took off the cover plate and all looked fine. I didn't have feeler gauges today but next time I'll take them along and double check it all.
So, how do I get to that gauze???

basically you need to soak it in methylated spirit then try and blow it out, if you could get to a compressor then you could give it a good blast, got to say mine seems to be ok since i cleaned it up. saved myself £50.

next up mate I would take it to a local garage that can do an oil pressure test, the last thing you want to do is change things that aint broke. it could well be the pump which really is only a £40 fix., you have done both pressure swithces I take it??

Yeah thanks daz, you're right. I have started fitting the gear linkage replacement bushes too, so when they're in I'll run it to someone who knows more than me (not difficult!). It's not any worse tho I know that.
Reading up it could lead to cam bearings and all sorts of major engine overhauls! Let's see what happens.
