oil leak need help

Hi folks,
 1st i have an oil leak were the filter houseing goes on to the block anyone know were i can get a new gasket?
2nd another oil leak… the sump nut at some time has been over tightend and damaged the thread is there anyway of repairing it or is it a new sump?

1) vw should do the gasket, if its obsolete for the mk1 order one for a late mk2 golf as it will fit just the same

2) new sump is about £30 tops so be easier and cheaper to just fit a new one and be done with it

If you want to go to town you can also upgrade the sump gasket to the rubber item at the same time or fit a windage tray which has the rubber gasket as part of it but you will need new bolts to hold the sump on if you do this

Got a windage tray on mine and its been nothing but trouble.
The rubber around the edge is harder/stiffer than a regular gasket and it can be a problem to get it to seal sometimes, especially if you have the type of sump with a ridge in the surface like mine. Tried using gasket sealant and it still leaks slightly.
As soon as i get my 9a its going.

sorry to be a dumb ass whats a  windage sump/tray any advantages?

hi all the gasket was still availble from vw its the same as the mk2
still need help with the sump though…
