Ok Situation as follows.

Oil getting into coolant, rad cap bit milky.

No Water in oil as yet, checked dipstick and oil filler cap.

Heh heh, I could try.

Any lawyers here, I have a suspicion guarantees apply to the purchaser only.

GSF do cylinder head kits for ?23.50 anyone know what's in em? Are GSF the best to go to?

Any other stuff to do at the same time?

you can bet they'd weasel out of paying up some how,
if your gonna do it your self you need the full head set so all the gaskets from the head up wards + new head bolts, ?23.50 sounds too cheep to be everything, of course its best to change the cam belt as well inc tensioner and you might need to get the head skimmed as well so best to check it once off.
if this needs doing(skimming) it will affect timing as it moves the head closer to the block - in most cars the increase in compression (being closer to the block) makes up for the fact the timing will be out. - in a golf the compression will not raise due to the design of the head and pistons, of corse you can fix this problem with a venier pulley.

Tallpete, think Volkspares warranty's are for 1 year or 12000kms - whatever comes first. Obviously you done somewhat more mileage. Looked into Volkspares engines a while ago, but found hardly anyone willing to recommend them. How had the engine been up until this problem?

Yeah I checked the guarantee too! 1 year or 12,000m whichever is sooner.

The engine was, and still does feel great.

Borrowed a compression tester and a block tester kit, Still no water in the oil, only oil in the water.
