Hi there, 1st thing I would check was the oil level isn't too high. If it is drain it. Then take the sparkplugs out check to see if any oil in cylinder crank over engine with coil diconnected to see if oil coming out cylinders. You could also check the compressions while the plugs are out. If the piston rings are worn some of the compression will leak past and into the crank case(pressurising and can push oil through breather into the airfilter) is the mileage very high. Try these and get back as there can be a few reasons, cheers Baz

hi

hi cheers so far the car has done 150000 miles and the oil level looked high also smelt of petrol and was very runny, i had problems with flooding as the timing was well out and it wouldn't fire up could the fuel have leaked in to the crankcase from cylinder head  :dontknow: cheers gaz

Hi best thing to do is change your oil and filter, even better if you leave sump plug off over night this will help drain completely and get rid of any petrol fumes. A new set of plugs or a good wire brush of old ones if fairly new. Petrol is very easy to wash down bores if turning engine over with out starting. Put enough fresh oil to take the dipstick to 3/4 as will expand when the engine is warm.
