Oil filter casting on a 2ltr ?

Ok this may have been brought up before but i really thought i had covered most bases when doing the 1.8 - 2ltr audi upgrade

Car is a 1983 gti mk1

the issue im having is fitting the oil cooler piping to the audi oil filter ?  and the mk 1 oil filer casting does not fit the audi engine …  i have included some pictures , the mk 1 oil filter casting is on the (right)

any help at how to overcome this problem would be much appreciated  :D

I thought they were interchangeable, but the easy solution would be to use the Audi one, and use the water-oil cooler. TBH you'll probably find that the existing GTI oil-air cooler is clogged and not so effective anyway. So if you need more cooling (ie lots of tuning, or track days in mind) then I'd advise an aftermarket oil-air cooler with a thermostatic sandwich plate. Get the "Scirocco" kit, the oil lines are shorter than the "Golf" one and won't flop around the engine bay.

I can't really spoon feed you! It bolts on, there's a gasket and 3 bolts connecting it to the engine. Then the oil-water cooler itself is attached to the oil filter housing with the large nut gently tightened, then the oil filter spins on. The water pipes will need to be Mk2 Golf ones, for the 2x that differ due to there being a water-oil cooler. Audi ones might be the same, IDK.
