Not a Problem, but!!!!

Two Weeks ago I collected my car from the doctors!!
Had the 'head' completely rebuilt…new this and new that!!! Bottom end fine.
phoned my mech to say that it has started smoking on start up, for about 1 minute, (not the 'ole oily smell) also it has started 'pinking' even at speed in low gear, (not too much speed)…mech said that it looks as though it needed a tune-up because he only did it by 'ear'….. Just wondering if any of you cud come up with any other ideas, so that I could mention it to him 2morrow. (Havent done too many miles). As always any help much appreciated.

Yeah, pinking is down to timing as far as I know. Don't think there is anything else which can cause it?

Make sure you have the right fuel. I think you can only adjust timing for 97RON.

Like to hear what others have to say, I have noticed my car pinks at very high revs under load and the timings only just be done.
