Non starter....
I cant seem to keep the charge on the battery.
I have changed the battery about 4 times now and i also changed the alternator and the starter motor.
Within a day of having the new battery the car just dies on me.
Even with a jump start is just dies.
The wires going from the alternator to the battery had been sliced and then re-joined and looked pretty worn. I have just fixed this so am hoping that this will cure the problem.
If not has anyone got any other ideas at all?
many thanks.

Get the battery charged and mesure the current draw with every thing turned off. If you have current flow then something is pulling power like an ICE amp or something - start pulling fuses until the current flow stops - that'll help pinpoint the problem area.

Not sure where it is on the Golf (mine hasn't gone wrong yet) but check the regulator/rectifier.
If this is shot, no charge will make it to the battery whatever else you replace.

Just discovered that my old wires off the stereo had been all bunched up and in the hole where the stereo was.
There were a few bare wires in there too.
Also the loom frm the alternator to the battery was badly joined. I have reconnected these and have got a new battery. Will connect it all up in th emorning and see what happens.
Also i will check the voltage etc etc.

Will be attached to the right hand side face of the alternator, small plastic unit with two screws. If this is faulty you should get a pulsing or permanent battery charge light on your dashboard.

Thanks for ya wiked advice guys.
I just found that it was a bad earth from the alternator to the engine.
I have a new problem now.
Since i have replaced the battery and the alternator the battery light pulses when i am driving or reving.
Any ideas?
