No ignition lights or fuel pump!!

Hi all new member just got myself a 83 A GTI been standing for over 3 years, put a cambelt on it sorted the brakes out new oil and filter.

No ignition lights but car will turn over has a spark and will fire and run with brake cleaner in the air intake, can power up the fuel pump with a battery to get that working would this be a fuse or relay also no horn if that is the same fuse!
Also no fuel gauge or rev counter!!
Any thoughts on this as would love to get it running and put an MOT on it.

Rob..

check the fuse first if its not blown the next is the fuel relay check the relay pins for voltage the pins are numbered
Terminal Number Connection
30 Permanent battery live
31 Earth
1 or 31b Coil negative
15 Switched 'Ignition on ' voltage
87 Output to fuel pump

you cant check the coil negative

i suspect you wont have an ignition live to the relay  if you have and the pump still doesnt kick in  change the reley got one of ebay  few weeks ago

failing that your going to have to look futher into the loom at the clocks or ignition system/barrel for loose wires
hope this helps good look

check black wire from ign switch, iirc there should be a wire from here direct to clocks which powers them up. pump should also get 12v from switch as well as a feed from rev counter when cranking, fact neither of these things happens suggests to me maybe the black wire from switch is damaege or switch bust. if this is the case someone has done some dodgy wiring to your coil as either of the above should stop the coil getting power as well...
