No Idle
I am currently restoring a 1981 EG Engine Golf GTI, and I have a problem with my car.
Although It runs like a dream the car simply doesn?t idles, the engine dies everytime i stop and it is very difficult to get it running again.
The performance on motorways is excellent, but I simply cannot drive it in town because every time I stop the engine dies, and to keep it running I have to revv it like a mad.
I would try to take a look at the idle control screw, but unfortunnatly I have no clue about what type of tool fits the tiny little hole, and what is the type of the screw head in order to buy the appropriate tool.
Help Please?????

it's a seven mm bolt head, so a 7mm socket or spanner will do it. i use a very small 1/4" drive 7mm socket on its own without a ratchet. it faces towards the bulkhead at the end of a sticky out bit.
Good tip, done it and I now have a Idle, but still very poor and erratic, what else should I look for, and is ther any other idle control on the EG engine??
Since the beggining of the restoration process I have changed spark-plugs, leads, engine valves and guides, radiator, metering unit.
I don?t know what else should I look next!!!
