NEED HELP by lunchtime please

mornin everybody.

last nite i had a HT Leed break on me so i went to an autofactors and bought a new set and they didnt fit, so i went to halfords and bought a set and the didnt fit, they were both purchased for my exact model.(1.8 gti)

the bit that does not fit is on the cap end of the lead, it seems that the contact part inside of the rubber collar is too big in diameter to fit inside the little plastic collars on the cap.

HELP!

oh yea and bein a heavy handed twat ive already broken one cap. lollol

yea its identical to the old one the old leads fit it. its a red/orange cap that fits  inside a metal sheath that looks like its earthed.

Sometime in the mid 80's VW changed to the 'pin' type of connector on the dizzy cap/ignition leads. Someone may have 'up graded' yours in the past :dontknow:

Get a new cap that matches the leads, should be less than a fiver

kewl i'll go try get one but as far as i know the autofactors i went to only had the one type. cheers

depending on what combination of parst you use you might also need a new coil with or without the 'pin' fitting

needed it for tonight so ive bodged it a bit by reshaping the ends of the leads wiv a file. lol also put new NGK's in and its runnin better that eva. will look into replacin it all soon though.
