mk1 rivage alternator ???

hello can any body help ?
i need to buy a new altinater for my mk1 golf rivage but i dont no which one i need as the one fitted has not got any part no.s on it….
i have contacted vw but they said it is two old and can not tell me which one i need (  55 amp  65 amp  or   90amp  ).
the car is a  mk1 1.8 gti rivage on a j reg , it has a dx motor….
 

65amp is what you want, any 1.5-1.8 8v mk1/2 alternator will fit. there are 2 types though you want later type which has 13mm nut fixing for the main charge wire to starter/battery
