mk1 cab with digifant engine help!!

hi all today i was trying to get the golf started for the first time but it wont have it the fuel pump is working but its not pushing any petrol though
i wondered if the car had a kill switch in case of accident like in the boots of my xr3i cab.
can anyone give me any ideas where to look.
