mk1 16v breather hose

I have a mk1 1.8 16v. I was wondering if the breather hose above the oil filter on the block  should be fed into the airbox. These reason i am asking is because there is oil on the air filter.

yes but i would use an oil catch can instead to keep the filter cleaner.
