miss fire under load.

ive jus developed a problem that when i accelerate fairly quickly it feels like the engine is miss fireing. please dont tell me its a valve or head gasket.

OK I won't!!!

have you tried swapping the HT leads? I had the same problem a few months ago and it sorte the problem straight away.

Possibly fuel starvation…

Check filters and filter in pump… Loads about this recently if you do a search on the forum…

its on a 1.8 gti are the injectors difficult to change and anyone know how much i should expect to pay for a set?

OK my friend, this is one of those always crops up questions that's why no-one is really answering it properly.

It's ignition related, how could a fuel problem cause a misfire?

does anything else happen when the car is miss firing ?

it could be that the ignition leads are breaking down, have you checked the colour of the plugs ?

has it happened all of a sudden or have you changed anything that may have had an effect on it ?

Easily.  Especially if an injector isn't flowing right (fuel distributor or injector problem).  You get a very annoying lean miss on one or more cyls.

Yep - And who actually diagnosed this as an ignition problem…  :wink:

If you haven't got any fuel to ignite, then technically, you have an ignition problem I guess, so you could be right!
