Misfire on start up...

Hi all.

For quite a while now I've been getting a misfire almost every time I start the car (tin top GTi). It sounds like it's running on 2 cylinders at most for about 15-20 seconds and then sorts itself out and is fine. It's at it's worst when the car has been sat for a while but still happens in the old 'popped in the shop for a pack of fags' scenario. It has a couple of times started to happen mildly after sitting in traffic for a long time too ?.

The head was replaced recently after a rebuild but that's not changed anything. Injectors have been checked and a couple replaced but no change there. I did have to clean out the tank because of a rusty filler neck some time ago but this started a few months later.

Anybody got any ideas ?.

id start with the cheap n easy first, have a damn good look for air leaks especially all the vac pipes and in the folds of the inlet boots. could be leaky injectors to test them you're supposed to bridge the relay to get the pressure up then switch off and leave it for 5 minutes, they shouldn't drip.

if all the above is ok invest in new cap, arm, leads & plugs from here, plus give it a full service:
