mfa instuments

Just finished restoring a 86 cabrio which looks amazing. However this is the first gti i ever owned and i am unfamiliar with the mfa functions. I understand pressing the button skips through temp and times. but what is the purpose of the 1 and 2 switch… also i have installed a rebuilt engine and it starts and runs effortlessly, timed it up and tuned it up. but the oil temp is reading 182 on the mfa readout… i seriously hope this is farenheit

any info mach appreciated

The handbook says it switches between memory for a single journey (1) or long term (2). 1 gets cleared if you switch the engine off for two hours. You can clear either of them by holding the switch past the notch for a second, and both will be cleared if you disconnect the battery.

That's the theory anyway - I don't use mine much as it's broken and most of the numbers it gives out are complete rubbish. Oddly oil temperature is the only one that makes sense on mine.

As stated, 1 is trip/current and 2 is cumulative. The oil is I'm sure reading farenheit, or at that high the engine would be cooking. 180F is about as low as you really want to be so your OK there.
