looking for info on the mk1 gti 1.8i

ive just bought one and im trying to convince the missus she could use it as a daily once its restored,so im after some amo
what i need to know is a realistic mpg along with what it should do 0 to 60,
im up against her reliable 1.4tdi lupo that does a good 62 mpg,now i know it wont come close but ive got to give it a go,thanxs in advance …..chris

Around 30mpg if driven reasonably conservatively and around 8.5 secs I would expect for 0-60 could vary depending on condition/mileage of engine tho difficult Q to answer really

dude, I reccon you'll struggle to convince due to no power steering

ye , she aint having any of it,the lupo is just to bloody good,she went from an 02 civic type r to the lupo and prefered the lupo :dontknow: women   oh well the quick resto on the gti is turning in to anouther full fledged resto so it will be a while
