Like so many wits end requests...

Hi all,

Ok where do I start.

Over the last year I have had a number of disasters and challenges and have, with a number of hours of therapy, bested most of them. Its the ones that stop you driving that trouble you the most - mine seem to be mostly that.

Can you help with this I hope the last problem? For a while…

I have a 91 sportline and it will insist on hesitating when you hit the accelerator, this is during driving and stationary.
It is also difficult to start. Once the engine moves above certain revs in the course of its acceleration the hesitation vanishes but returns when changing gear.

I have had the following done.

tune-up twice - according to the tuner all points check out (He keeps saying injectors but I think that is a guess).
New in-line fuel pump.
New in-tank pump.
All the basic replaced; plugs, leads etc.
New fuel filler.
Cleaned petrol tank.

I know there is a bunch of component parts, one of which may need replacing but I just wanted to see if anyone has experianced this problem before I buy yet more parts on a guess.

Thanks so much for any help.

sounds like the timing is out or it isn't getting a consistant spark. do as above and check the timing aswell. (if a garage does it ask them to show you with the strobe)

And do a full system pressure test, injector test, cold start system test and pump flow test to identify any problems with fuelling.

Could water in the petrol tank be an issue?

Thanks Guys.
Will definitely look at these suggestion.
One new thing I have noticed.
When looking at the injectors and giving them a brief clean I noticed small water droplets coming out of them when I gave them a tap.
Could water in the petrol system cause this hesitation and poor performance?

Are you sure it's WATER ??? …not fuel ???
…either way it suggests leaking injectors….
