leaky injectors?????

hi guys,, just wondering if you could help me out a little,, i have a mk1 golf 1600GTI hardtop which doent like starting in the cold or hot but does eventually,, plugs leads and dizzy n rotor arm all have been replaced,   the fuel injectors have been replaced aswell,, but i'v just removed the injectors and cleaned the ends up with a cloth,,  turned the ignition n petrol squirted out of 2 of them,, 2 didnt squirt,, with the ignition on  petrol then started to weap out of 3 of them 1 remained totally dry until cranked..

are my injectors working properly?

also the guy who had it before me has wired the fuel pump in to ignition live ie; bypassed the relay which doesnt exist on the fuse boy i have so the pump is always on when key is turned,, is this a major issue? will pressure be to much etc,,

it always fires from cold n then dies,, and takes forever when its warm,,

regards adrian :dontknow:

They should all spray vigorously when they reach pop off pressure.
Sounds like either the injectors are sticky/clogged or theres some other obstruction in the lines to them.

Fuel pump being wired continuous is a bit on the naughty side as itll continue to run even if you went shiney side down into a tree….thatd be kinda bad as itll feed a fire should you be that unlucky.
Get that sorted out asap, it could be a life saver for you.

what do you mean vigorously,, the injectors are new fron GSf, only 1 stays dry the rest leak fuel when ignition is on,,

iv had it a year n jus gettin round to sorting all the probs out but the k jet system is a pain in the arse,, the guy tht had it befor me was a total cowboy; fuel pump wired wrong,, bare wires all over n sump plug ptf tape n silconed in,, roughneck, lol,

You need to get a pair of long nose pliers around the neck of the injector, put a rag on the rocker cover and lever them out. They are just a push fit. Try spraying some wd40 onto them where they enter the head and leave overnight.
