IT WONT START AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

:banghead: I bought a mk1 golf cabrio 1.8gti coco about 2 months ago and it just wont go. i bought a working scorocco a week ago for the bits(which i am breaking and selling) and so far i have changed the fuel pump, acumulater, injection sys from the air filter box to the injectors as well as the fuel warm up valve, the coil, ht leads, cold start valve, most air pipes on and around the engine, spark plugs, fuse box and still no joy. i dont understand it, we figured out that it is getting fuel right up to the injectors. i cracked the injectors of and the fuel will come out no prob from the braded hoses but i put the injectors back on and nothing. why why why. it is frying my head.  :dontknow: the fuel pump also startes to constantly run when the ignition was on (both of the pumps done this), it never done that before, it worked as normal but the car never ran before or after this prob. please help me as i am v unhappy at the moment with the anticts of my supposed pride an joy.

is the timing right ?

compression check ?

power to the coil and ignition module ?

it gets a good spark, it has good compression, the timing is right, i turned the engine at the crank till no 1 cylinder was at the top and checked the rottery arm and it was at no 1 ht so i think it was ok. its a fuel prob, it ant getting any through the injectors. its getting to the injectors but not through them. might it b a electrical prob, spent 4 hours solid on it on sat with a guy that builds rally cars and he couldn`t get it going.

Fuel Pressure

I had a replacement fuel pump (Evil bay) that went faulty after only a few miles, car started missing and would backfire unusable.  Took every thing apart before I relised it was the pump again.  Stuck presure gauge on injection system and it was way down, not opening the injectors enough to run properly.

Maybe you are not getting enough pressure to the injection system and the injectors cannot open at all.  Bought another new fuel pump and it ran fine again, all this was down to water in tank from the dreaded filler neck rust problem.  There is a section in the Haynes manual about injection system that describes the use of  pressure guage.

Check to see weather any fuel is returning to the tank, by releasing unoin on side of fuel destributor on the return line (carefuel fuel maybe under high pressure extreme caution).  Section in haynes manual of quantity that should return to the tank.  All the time fuel pump is running (engine not running, short fuel relay see prowlers injector test) there should always be a large quantity of fuel returning to the tank, if fuel pump runs but there is no flow of fuel back to tank this means high pressure circiut has not enough pressure to open the injectors.  Possible cause worn pump again, blocked fuel filter, blocked filter in fuel tank (view able through fuel gauge sender mounting, under back seat), low pump voltage (should be no more than 1volt less than the voltage measured at the battery).

You could try borrowing a pump see if it works.  A long shot but worth doing is changing fuel filter (could be blocked).  Do injectors test (search prowlers injection test in google).

Link to video of how the system works you can hear the amount of pressure is require to open injectors.
