Intermittent cutting out?

Hey guys, i've had a look through with the search function and can't seem to find anything with a similar problem.

 Im running a 1.8 16v kr conversion on k-jet.

Just recently it's been running and starting fine, but every now and then would lose power when moving and either forcing me to pull over or the majority of the time it happens at speed and just bursts back to life like it's been jump started.

The times where i've had to pull over, after a couple of minutes of trying to re-start, she just suddenly kicks in and everything is fine again.

So far i've changed the:

dizzy cap
rotor arm
ht leads
fuel filter

but these haven't had any affect.

I suspect it's more the fuel side of things the way it juct loses power and therefore would changing the fuel pump be the most logical next move?

Any advice would be great

Have you tried changing dizzy unit completely? the ribbon cable could be braking down under vacuum as it flexes a lot, exact same symptoms on mine, sorted after changing the dizzy for a spare I had :-)

try fuel pump relay - mine used to cut out and if the relay jiggled about it would kick back in.  Next time it stops and wont restart, put the ignition to just before you start it, and wiggle the relay - you will hear the pump kick back into life. Was a dodgy connection on the fuse box

Failing that it might be fuel starvation due to rubbish in the fuel lines - does it kangaroo around when the pedal is pressed down but stops if you let off it?

is it running complete kr managment including the isv controller? if so check the black plastic valve thing behind the airbox, this started going faulty on mine and it kept cutting out on me. try disconnecting the plug to it, see where that gets you

Rubjonny, where abouts is this valve? I can't really see anything behnd my airbox that looks like it could be it.

I've been fiddling around with it this morning, i've just ordered a new relay just so i can eliminate it, buy when i turn the key i can still hear the pump prime and the relay click,  it starts for less than a second then dies, so i'm guessing the relay is actually fine?

it may not have one if you arnt running the full KR mangement including the isv controller.

it should be round the back of the airbox, it has 1 pipe to the airbox and the other to the inlet pipework somewhere

Thanks bud, it does run the isv but it isn't there.  Had a look at some diagrams and see the thing you mean, but nothing.  Thanks anyway, the search continues!
