i feel like taking a pick axe to my engine!!!please help.

The story so far,last week cleaned my throttle assembly,replaced the dizzy and rotor arm,went to fire it up after these 2 simple tasks to no avail! i wish i had just left the bloody thing alone.the reason why i cleaned the throttle body was because there was a flat spot when you accelerated hard,i kind of delay of about a second.infact sometimes it would konk out if you just put your foot to the floor when it was ticking over.

so so far i have i have now replaced all the leads and got a new coil,one thing that i am unsure about is the dizzy that was on the car and that wilco gave me as a replacement was black(and alot of engine bay pictures on here they are orange)i have a 1992 k reg sportline.

the strange thing is that the closest i have had it to ticking over was when i had the leads in the wrong order,it was very knocky but it eliminated the possible fuelling problem that i thought i had.

Just in reference to fuelling,i have tested all pumps,sender unit,filters and injectors.

The spark coming out of the coil lead seems very weak,it starts with 1 big blue spark and then fizzles out to nothing.or atleast nothing i can see,should the spark be powerful and noticable continuosly when i am turning the car over ?

Please comment asap if you would like to see this car have a long and fruitful life,i am at my wits end.

i think your dizzy is not located correctly

i did this last time i changed mine

twist the dizzy cap till it locates

your flat spot it ignition timing

Hi there,thanks for your reply,had already done the dizzy positioning,i am now replacing the timing belt and resetting the all the timing.just having a mare getting the centre nut off the crank as it keeps spinning!!

Why are you removing the centre nut?????

I did try,and then i cam to my senses and just took it off normally!was it einstien who said you cant solve a problem with the mindset that created it it.im going tp leave it alone now and crack on again tommorrow.
