How Wierd

I can't understand this one. I thought i had an HT lead breaking down on my '82 1.6, so i bought a new set from GSF (i know cheapskate), i put the new set on and now the thing idles all over the place, not that lumpy, but sudden changes going from 600 to 1000rpm all on it's own. Then put the old original ones back on and it's rock solid. Put the new ones on again and idle all erratic again. Are GSF leads that rubbish? :dontknow:

Don't know the answer mate but them leads don't sound to good to me
one thing i have learnt is not to skimp on the leads and plugs as a good spark means good ignition and better fuel economy and more power.

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

This one comes up every so often. Many reports of bad running/short life of the Beru HT's sold by GSF - not heard what you report though. Get OEM spec ones and you should be fine.

Anywhere but GSF  ….. Actually you should be able to get decent spark plugs from GSF. Try to get Quantum HT leads from your local VW dealer for about ?26. Failing that most motor factors sell OEM spec HTs. I got a set of of Electrospark for ?26 from motor factors, look identical to Quantum ones and much thicker/higher quality than Beru
