Hot start problem, engine stalls

Hi,

i have a hot starting problem on my mk1 g60. Cold starts are fine, and also the engine performs as it should at all temperatures. Although after driving the car and it is all up to temp and then shutting it off for a short while, when I come to restart it will start easily but after a few seconds it will start to run rough and eventually die. It will immediately restart and be fine. It does this every time. I now start it and let it idle until it stalls then restart and drive off. Obviously it is not ideal and a tad embarrassing . Even pressing the throttle makes no change and the revs will not rise it will just cough splutter and die.
   I changed the fuel pump to a brand new item but it has made no difference?

anyone now what the cause of this rather annoying problem could be?
