high oil pressure

I'm currently trying to salvage the mess that was left by the now defunct TSR to my 1.8 dx injection engine. i recently had an oil pressure gauge fitted and apart from the engine not running well, the guage is always off the scale which goes upto 5 bar. oil is coming out of the rocker cover, have taken off and checked the gasket and replaced at the correct torque setting…does anyone know if it is possible for oil under too high a pressure to force its way out through the rocker cover gasket?

If your oil presure is high check all breather systems on the engine , blocked or incorrectly assembled breather system can cause all sorts of strange oil leaks .

Also you may have a faulty oil pressure relief valve or simply a faulty switch . I will wager that the breather system is to blame and would check that first .

5 bar is  approximatly 74 psi  8O  So i think the guage is faulty . 2 bar is about the right running pressure for a warm engine .
