high idle --- my solution

hi

been having problems with high idle at normal running temp at about 12 to 1300 rpm after further investigation noticed that the pipe which runs from the back of the aux air valve to the metal pipe which runs along the bulkhead had collapsed, so i took it off renewed it and all is sorted just thought it may help someone with the same symtoms.

When you say collapsed - what exactly do you mean? Where did you get new pipe from?

I have the same issue - car idling at 1200-1300 when hot.

Cheers

the pipe had collapsed under vacume and if you stand in front of your car look at the left side of the throttle body next to this there is the auxilary air valve from that area there is a rubber pipe about 4.5 inches long this had collapsed on mine due to age and heat as it gets warm it collapses, when cold its fine but when it gets warmer it softens up and instead of being round in diameter it flattens and stops air getting through hence the high idle i got come standard heater pipe about the diameter of garden hose (technical term) but make sure its the right length if its too long it will kink and the proplem will persist it took about ten mins and problem solved good luck
