Help Please - Cutting out when pulling away

My cabby keeps cutting out everytime i try and pull away.
It starts up fine, and generally happy to sit and and idle (a bit lumpy). I can also rev it up on the spot.( its a 2l 16v 9a(with KR head))
I can enagage all gears but as soon as i try to move in 1st, 2nd or reverse i get about 5metres, and then just dies. After cutting out, it starts up fine again, but then as soon as i try to pull away same again.
Leaving me a bit baffled as where to start to look.
Any advice most appreciated.

Will work my way through, I am not sure if its electrical though, as i only just drove the car the 1500 miles from the UK to Gibraltar, without much problem. but definitely a way of ticking stuff of and reducing the items to look at.
