Help!! KR 16v problems...

Hi there, wonderin if anyone can help me/shed some light with my car..

I am getting quite a loud tappet type noise coming from the engine but intermittently. It just seems to come and go which puzzles me. Whilst driving and it is making this noise sometimes by engaging the clutch and bringing it back to idle then reengaging the clutch it will stop the noise. ???The engine is standard other than a K&N panel filter, a stainless 4 branch and a stainless Jetex system.  The engine seems to be using more oil too. It's not leaking any oil and it doesn't seem smokey either. The plugs seem a bit oily too.

I don't know if this is something to do with the bores and rings or a head rebiuld is the way to go. If anyone has any experience of these symptoms or knowledge etc. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanx.

Sounds more like a clutch/transmission fault, than an engine fault.

Nah…pretty sure it's not.. But thanx anyway.
