Help digifant
[marq=down]
Hi I'm hoping someone can help me, I've got a Caddy with 8v digifant from a mk2 in. The other day leaving work it started to splutter so I pulled over and can't get it to start since. I've replaced the plugs and I haves good spark on each, I have plenty of fuel at the rail too. I've tested the hall sender and the TCI-H switch unit and all seem ok. I tried the coil from my girlfriends clipper on too.
On first rotation of the engine almost fires but then just goes round and round not sounding like its going to fire?
Any suggestions please before I have to get it trailered home!
Thanks Chewy.

try a new ecu blue temp sensor in the front flange from vw, the parts man might try to tell you its for cat cars only, but buy it anyway. unless its an early digi these use a white ecu temp sensor in the flange instead

the other thing id look at is fuel delivery, depending on how it is set up. if there is some kind of lift pump before the main pump make sure this is working, becasue most vw inline pumps cant suck fuel out of the tank on their own they die eventually

Thanks for suggestions John, I did pop the pipe off the fuel rail though and it started spraying out after I'd tried to start it so think this must be ok. I am running just the inline pump though btw.

ok they cant cope without a lift pump for long, the pump will strain then eventually die. so fit a lift pump first, fingers crossed that'll be enough otherwise you may have to replace the main pump too!
not sure what lift pump fits the caddy tank, maybe the later mk1 cabrio and scirocco unit?
