Help!! 1800 k jet dies

Hi guys I have had this on going problem with my golf for ages now. I just changed the metering head on recommendation from my mechanic but it hasn't sorted it out. Also changed fuel filter, air filter, ignition module, fuel pump relay.

The problem is is that it is a dog to start and drives like crap until it has warmed up. And once it has warmed up it drives really nice but when you take your foot off the throttle and change gear the revs die and it stalls.

Please help cause this is driving me mad!!!

Could be as simple as checking/adjusting the mixture, its worth checking as a first check.

I had the car tuned yesterday after i fitted the new metering head. The last metering head didn't have full adjustment on it so i fitted another one. The mechanic tuned it up for me and it had the same syptoms as it was before i changed the metering head.

i had similar problem recently turned out to be the inlet manifold gasket

83 BBS MK1 GTI 69 T2 PANEL VAN i am back let the trouble begin :)

Oh right. Im guessing the gasket was failing right. Is it an easy change?

the gasket had completly disintegrated not a bad job

Cool Ill give it a go. Any other ideas peps?
