head swap

Hi all, new to veedub ownership…..need a bit of help
I have a 83 golf gti DX engine fitted with shim type tappets, is it possible to fit later 8 valve head with hydraulic tappets to the DX block. any advice appreciated

yep straight swap, only issue is the injector inserts but you can go with the later head if you cap off the vacuum pipe between 3 & 4, and put new injector seals on too

hello rubjonny, cheers for the reply bud...forgive me for being naive, but which golf head/model can i use? absolute novice at this.

any 1.8 8v with injection will work, for an easy life make it a k-jet one either EV or DX
