Head swap ... 1.6 on a 1.8?

Will the 1.6 GTi head fit on the 1.8 GTi block or not?

I have a standard 1.8 dx engine and have acquired a modified 1.6 head, its ported, polished, 285 cam and has a 4 branch attached and I need to know if it's a straight swap before I start taking things apart.

I've asked elsewhere and am still unsure wether the compression ratio would be ok, can anyone give me a definitive yay or nay

If the head gasket is the same go for it .

Only difference i can see is the water hose !

Don't think it will, for a start a 1.6 head doesn't have combustion chambers around the valves so I assume 1.8 pistons won't have enough room  8O
