Head Gasket PLEASE HELP!!

im pretty sure my head gasket has gone :( i have creamy crap in the oil cap(unintentional rhyme there) loosing a fair amount of
water ther is no oil in the water though.

how easy is it to do? i have only ever changed the clutch and done a few other little bits

are there any guides on how to change the head gasket?  what
tools and bits do i need? and anything else i should do while the
head is off?

thanks

Haynes manual is your friend, has all the tightening sequences and torques you need. The most complex tool you need is a Spline socket for the head bolts, http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_168943_langId_-1_categoryId_165469

the rest you just need a basic metric socket set.

I dont find it particularly tricky to be fair and if you have done a clutch then you should find it ok,

As for anything else, depends how far you want to go, if you have the head off could be worth doing the valve stem oil seals, the timing belt obviously and treat it to a thermostat and waterpump since its drained down.

on second thoughts is it possible this isnt the head gasket? i do only do very short trips everyday to work probably about 10 mins each way?? anyway of telling? i checked the dip stick and the oil there looks normal not creamy, but would the condensation explain why i am loosing water from the expansions tank? could just be a leak i suppose

yes very possible you are seeing a bit of condensation build up due to short journeys and cooler temps.
ifoil on dipstick has mayo then its hg, if just cap its probably not!

if you are loosing water out of header rtank cap, replace the cap before you do anything else. also check the coolant flange on the front and side of head, these are common spots for leaks on old engines. also check the rad all over, any crusty white deposits point to a leak.

thanks for the advice im pretty sure its condensations. i changed the oil last weekend and ther was no gunk or anything in it, its not about dropping the bolt into the bucket of oil though :s. just gotta find this pesky coolant leak now.
