GTI won?t run?? Help??

Hi guys, just got an 1800 GTI need some help its been off the road for 6 years and have tried to get her going problem is it fires up and almost runs but then just stalls? I tried taking the cold start valve connector off and it doesn?t even fire up so I assume its running of the cold start valve fuel for a few seconds and is not getting fuel to the plugs vie injectors?

Knowing this I checked the inlet for fuel into the metering head sprays out at pressure as I unscrewed it assuming its getting enough pressure from the pump and I bought a new pump so I can?t see it?s the pressure.

Tried a second hand metering head and didn?t make a difference as I though it may be this.

So I tried unscrewing an injector and putting the fuel pump on and fuel did come out of the braded line where it would connect to the injector as I pulled the metering head plate up. However it was not a jet of fuel but I assume the pressure builds up to 3.0 car allowing the injectors to then open.

What can it be, injectors?? Or fuel pump cutting out when it?s been turned over? Is there anything else it can possibly be its beaten me I have no idea?

Cheers any help would be brilliant

that's not right If your getting fuel coming out of the braided fuel line/injector connection! this should be leak free

once you lift the pressure plate by the metering head, you should get a steady + even spray pattern coming out of the injector nozzle

I'd start with replacing any leaking lines, then take all 4 injector's out and check they're spray pattern

If your still getting nothing I'd say you've got blocked injectors

Sorry i miss put that i took the injectors off the braded line and connected the fuel pump to a battery so it was constantly running and then pulled the plate and fuel did come out of the braded lines where the injectors are connected on, does this mean it has to be the injectors blocked, the fuel didnt flood out of the braded line just a small flow of fuel?

I tired the same thing with the injectors on and nothing came out of the injectors? what can it be other than the injectors, fuel pressure?

cheers

If the lines leak, replace them before doing anything else. It might be worth seeing if they're leaking at the injector, instead of the line itself, though. If it still doesn't spray fuel out of the injector during the test, you're right to say its injectors blocked or low fuel pressure. Could be worth swapping one injector - or cleaning all 4 of yours, I imagine they're gummed up with old fuel which has gone bad. They are quite delicate things internally.

yes.

have you drained the tank and used fresh fuel? 6 yr old petrol is not too good.
