GTI not running & cutting out

hi, my mk1 golf 2.0 8V Injection, original engine, just bored out by GTI Engineering keeps cutting out on me, it starts 1st time and will idle for a long time but when i take it out for a drive it will drive fine for about a mile then start coughing & spluttering, feels like it's starving from fuel. We have replaced the tank as was rusted up, cleaned all pipes & lines, replaced the accumulator valve with a brand new one as it was rusty & leaking under pressure, new fuel pump, new set of injectors, tried several metering heads which worked temporaily, Changed the warm up reg, tried a new ignition module, double & triple checked the timing, & checked air bellows & pipes. We are running out of things to replace and try yet the horror still wont run, Has this ever happened to anyone else? please help. Any feedback greatly appreciated   :banghead:

fuel pressure. or could be running too rich. does it start after it cuts out? and idle fine again?

majority of the time it starts straight away, and idles perfectly, just when you put your foot on the gas, does it start spluttering. Checked the fuel pressure, that seems ok. Running out of ideas, bound to be something something stuipid!! :banghead:

how did you check the fuel pressure. have you checked co and timing?

checked the co, all ok and timing checked and double checked, fuel pressure checked with the fuel guage but cant remember the reading it was what the fuel injection manual advised, getting another metering head tomoro of a running mk1 to see if that works, as we can manually pump it and it seems to run ok doing this, but cant do it when i drive it lol is there such a thing as a mk1 Guru??!! I need one if this doesnt work  :banghead:

You've already tried several metering heads and the problem persists - I'd suggest its not the metering head but something else, ie plain old fuel starvation from a blockage somewhere. Sounds like whatever you changed, is not where the blockage is. Did you look at the accumulator?

where in the fuel line did you check pressure? at the injectors? 76psi i think it should be there. sounds like the whole fuelling system has been changed/cleaned. wondering about electrical. has anything at all happened between it running well and not?

Have you tried changing your coil?
