gti DX engine

Hi,folks does any bright spark know if a digifant PB engine will fit into a dx powered gti,
only the bottom half off mine has gone, or failing that which bottom ends match my cyl
head which is spot on.

Should be okay to use bottom end. I think PB has milder cam than DX engine, so you'd want to swap the heads anyway. (One might have mechanical and the other, hydraulic cam).

an ev would be fine. just need to use the mk1 manifolds.

PB, EV, and DX bottom ends are essentially the same. If you want 100% assurance, don't buy a secondhand engine but seek a reonditioned one from the Federation of Engine Remanufacturers. You'll pay for the privelage though - I can't give you prices but finding out will be easy enough on the internet etc.

If I were selling an engine and someone was unsure etc, I'd give them a bit of time but after a while just chuck it on eBay, so don't hang around, just go for the engine from GTIMAD!!!!!!

By the way in which way is the bottom end gone, and if its a bearing broken up then you'll need to carefully wash out the head of all old oil/metal particles, eg send it off to get it chemically cleaned and head skimmed/checked etc. The same guys who skim heads will know what's needed and be quite happy to also clean it up, etc.

me head is a bit bettered .Only the car is set in the garden having had s@ T loads off money spent on it . I want to make sure on whats what

Hi Paul the engine has overheated in the past before i bought, it all the bottom end is blue in colour
piston rings are like razor blades and bearings are gone a friend off mine stripped it down
and said its cheaper to buy a secound hand engine. i just want to get on the road only its been 2 years

So......is the head cracked and warped? Did the head gasket blow?

Hi the heads fine no cracks yes the gasket had blown, when the car was picked up all seemed fine started and ran so carried on with resto
thinking all was ok till i ran the car around the block and it overheated bought new pump, new water pipe,but damage was already done
so its this year or it gets broken and i start over with a G wagen. Regards
