Fuelling probs???

Had a issue a few weeks ago, which I thought was the ignition so I gave a new coil, plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm but it changed nothing.

Next I tried the fuses and fuse box (well my friend did who's a mechanic) and he said all was well some light corrosion but nothing major, he cleaned it up a bit, checked the fuel pump relay, that was fine.
Then yesterday I checked that power was getting to the fuel pump which it was.

Please someone help me, I haven't drove her since 21st December and I really miss her

have you checked inside tank for rust, and what fuel pump setup is it tintop gti tank and main pump or carby tank with cabrio/rocco lifter pump, reservoir and gti main pump.

worth trying a new pump relay as they can work to a point then fail under load

Yeah but I couldn't get the filter in the tank out, will try again 2moro.

What Is the L pipe??

the rubber pipe between the tank and the fuel pump, if its tyhe original prob past its best. if its been replaced its very hard to fit a straight hose without kinking so that could be the problem. crazyquiff does them or you could make something up with suitable fuel-safe angle fitting plus rubber lines

That looked fine, but I did notice that at the other end the pipe coming off the banjo fitting was quite bent, but didn't think anything off it as it was running fine before.

I will take some pics 2moro.

Had a look at the fuses today and one was quiet warm so took it out and it was very corroded left it for a bit a put it back in, now it won't start, thinly maybe f/box has had it due to the bad weather.

I have a ceramic fuse type box, can I change it for a bladed fuse box.

you will need a complete car loom to do this, or lots of splicing. what dash do you have (early twin pod or later style) and what size rear lights big or small? also do you want the rear wiper/washer to work

Not sure what dash, Don't know what the differences are

Big rear lights and the rear wiper motor ha been removed and smooted ready for boot popper kit

is it the type with the speedo and revo in the same plastic housing? if so thats late. so ideally you want a mk1 golf/cab dash loom, take the switches from the donor too as they may differ. you could pop pins and swap your old plugs over though matching up wire and pin numbers.

rear loom you can use mk1 or cabrio gti, but if you get cabrio you'll need to splice your old rear light plugs onto it. engine loom any mk1 or cab gti, and lighting loom any mk1 or cab no matter what engine.

HTH!
