Engine woes

After going to all the effort of fitting my recently purchased ported inlet manifold, audi TB and stainless 4 branch my car is now running terrible. I have a really loud tapping, clunking, chapping noise coming from the engine at all times, whether it be at idle or when actually on thre move. I replaced my oil pump and the car ran fine for a day but then the noise returned.

I have lost all interest in this engine and have decided to go down the 16v route. My mate has a 1.8 16v KR engine complete with gearbox, wiring loom thats been split and also a stainless manifold ideal for the conversion that im going to purchase. I have looked in the conversion section of the website but there doesnt seem to be any links for helpful tips on this conversion. Can anyone please give me pointers and tips for fitting the 16v KR engine. Do i need to replace engine/gearbox mounts?
Can i run the car on KJET or do i need to fit ECU and loom? Do i need to relocate fuel pipes? Any info anyone can provide would be a great help or has anyone one the conversion and have a thread on how to do it. Cheers in advance  8)

Do you mean the engine conversion article? There are at least 5 links to 16V conversion threads, at the bottom of the section (2.0 16V).

Yeah i saw them, but they are all for the 2.0 16v conversion. Im fitting the 1.8 16v so i assumed the blocks would be different, different mount locations etc.

Should i just follow the tips for 2.0 16v then? Are the conversion pretty much the same?

Yeah just follow the 2.0 16V stuff, the 8V, 1.8 16V and 2.0 16V blocks are all basically the same.

for the tapping noise….ill say its most likey the exhaust manifold… did you fit the gaskets 100% correct as they are easy to cock up!! evebi have done them wrong before and when they start to blow they make a tappy noise.

I didnt fit the exhaust mate, one of the techs at my work did. The car ran fine for almost 3 weeks after i had fitted 4branch, TB and new inlet manifold. Then the tapping noise started and get progressively worse
