engine shot please help

Engine completly shot in my mk1 sportline,What is the best option re-con engine ,put a mk2 in or a mk3 ??????

What am i likely to be looking at cost wise ??

failed oil pressure knocked the crank out !!!
he said best way to go if im gonna keep car is a 2.0 ltr mk3 16v engine any thoughts ??

no i haven't i'll read it now,just if you think this is the best way to go he reckons £1000-£1500 to do it

I can't decide for you, but the 2.0 16V is a pretty good engine in a Mk1. Whether you want or need an engine conversion; whether he can actually do the conversion properly, or you can do it DIY, and whether you can afford the insurance increase, etc are things you need to consider yourself.

the abf lump imo is the best thing bang for buck, as its simple and cheap to fit and at least 150bhp as standard if not more. if you can try to fit it using the full abf managment, for the cost he quoting i expect that to be done. runnign it on k-jet would expect it to be cheaper as its easier, but i dont recommend that route.

do you have any mechanical knowledge at all or are you after a full job start to finish?
