Engine Rebuild

I am just about to start rebuilding my 1.8T AEB engine for my 4wd project. I want to change all seals, bearings and piston rings to be on the safe side.
Can anybody recommend where I can get any of these parts apart from main dealers.
Also are these parts interchangable from other engines as on the Eurocar Parts website, they list main bearings for a Mark3 GTI (ADY) engine but not for mine. Do they use the same bearings.

Try an engine machine shop, I use www.wdrake.co.uk cos they're local to me, should be somewhere by you.  They can usually get the parts you need and a whole lot cheaper than the main stealers.
