Engine oil coming out ....................GTI
I have just noticed a big oil patch on the floor, oil is in the airbox of my 1983 1800 GTI Golf
its being pumped out of the pipe from the rocker cover down to the airbox.
Somebody has told me it could be a worn bottom end engine? any help/advice needed! thanks in advance Chris

piston rings could be gone in that case, compression test time

Worth cleaning out the breather in the rocker cover and if you dont have one fitted then fitting a splash guard above the camshaft may help

Try cleaning out the breather in the rocker cover and fitting a camshaft splash shield before you do anything

Posted at the same time, my engine is fubar and smokes like a train because of worn rings, however i have no oil pouring out of the breathers and i do have the splash shield fitted, it was the reason i suggested you give it a go
