Engine not holding minimum rpm once started

Hi u all guys, well…I have a problem… :( So, this evening I was running with my mk1 when pressing the clutch to change down and stop at a stop, the engine turned off and, since then, it doesn't turn on until I press the accelerator and, once it has turned on, I must keep it constantly on a high rpm, otherwise it off. I think it is the fuel pump, don't you? I want to say that when I walk there are no problems, just once it happened that it gives a jerk, but nothing of that. PS: the distribution system (the one above the airbox) has been recently revised, so it is new…please help me!  :banghead:

Definitely not the fuel pump

Could be the mixture is too lean, or simply that the idle speed is set too low. Both should be regularly checked and altered , eg at every service.

Thanks paul c, but the problem is that the last friday I've done about 120km without any problem! Today, with my surprise, it has done this! Can the mixture or the idle speed change so faster?!

If it's a gti the throttle cable rubber that sits ontop of the rocker cover and has the cable running through it can perish and allow the cable to move about which will effect idling and can go at anytime.

Dan

just seen it is a gti so have a look there
