Engine/ignition trouble

Hi everyone, need your help please?
VW Golf Cabby 1988 1.8GTI DX engine.

Sometime ago I run up to the DIY store at full belt and as soon as I let the throttle off it started to struggle and it sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders.

Anyway put it into the garage and they found that the metering head was stuck open and was flooding each cylinder, put on a new metering head and it cured that problem, however the mis-fire is still there and what happens now is that the tick over is spot on, it revs sound until you put it under load.
When you accelerate between 1250-2000rpm its sounds like it runs on 3 cylinders, then all of a sudden it catches up with itself and i'm off like the clappers.

Unfortunately the garage closed down on Friday and I had to pull the car out half finished, but the mechanic reckoned the Dizzy was faulty.
This weekend put on a working dizzy from a similar age car, but I still have the same problem.

Yes I've changed Parts like Plugs, Leads, Dizzy & Cap & arm, Coil, gnition module and I think it maybe something different altogether

I'm really stuck, I've replaced nearly everything and I need your help?

Hi mate might be worth  changing your fuel filter if you havent already and possibly change any relays related to the ignition system as intermitent relays can cause misfires. Its a bit tricky without inspecting the car but both are worth a try, engine earth leads should also be checked good luck!!!!!!! :)

Hi,

What relays are involved with the ignition system?

Fuel system is completely new, from filler to injectors, so I know that bits fine.
