Engine conversion random questions

Hi all, recently got my 1.8 clipper running perfect, but went to a street cruise and now want to do an engine conversion. I know nothing about engines so please forgive me if I make a right prat of myself asking silly questions! Firstly my cabby is an auto…..would I need to convert it over to a manual?

And if I'm doing a conversion is fitting power steering an option that I can consider from the donor car?

Any pointers in the right direction is greatly welcomed! Also does anyone know where I can get some Helios blue paint? My bumpers need touching up as well as a couple rust spots I need to sort out!

I found that useful when deciding on which engine to choose but i also read through alot of the guides on the site about specific engine conversions so that i could get a better understanding as to what was involved and what i was prepared to take on.

Not to sure on whether you can keep the auto box or not but im sure someone else will chime in soon.

You can keep the auto box but one wonders why you suddently want to transform the car to such an extent after going to a meet?

Auto box might fail due to a higher power engine (more torque), and also its ratios might be wrong - but then the 020 might fail, etc etc

its just like any other engine conversion except the driveshafts are different on the auto; and you'll need to be creative with the throttle cable arrangement on another engine.
